Bill M (Aug 2021) - "We were impeccably looked after from start to finish. As a party of five adults (three complete newbies to narrow boats, two had had a few days 30+ years ago, so effectively newbies) we were really well looked after by Steve and his team. Even before we went Steve was really supportive and helpful on the 'phone. We had 'Knotweed' which gave us lots of room for 5 adults, two loos, plenty of beds and a good living area. On arrival we were shown round the boat by Sophie, and then left to pack our stuff on the boat before parking our car up in the secure boatyard. The boat was well equipped, we didn't want for anything, and very clean. When we were ready to go Sophie accompanied us for several miles instructing us on all aspects of steering the boat, and gave us the know how to moor the boat, so we could get into the tightest of parking spots if necessary. Once Sophie was happy that at least two of the crew were competent we dropped her on the towpath for a long walk back to the boatyard. And we chugged on to our first mooring near a pub. The next morning we went through the Blisworth Tunnel, about 45 mins to get through it, and a good test of our boat steering skills, but we had been well trained and we got through no trouble. Steve met us on the other side of the tunnel and trained us in the operation and etiquette of locks. He stayed with us a long way into the flight of seven locks, not leaving until he was sure we were competent and knew what we were doing. And then off we went for a thoroughly relaxing and fun week, we shared the driving duties and took turns at the locks; lots of laughs and relaxation."
